How To Take Screenshots

Screenshots is nothing but capturing what is on your computer monitor screen. There are various reasons for capturing screenshots. If you are running Windows operating system then taking screenshots is very easy, but to get the good quality screenshots require some knowledge. For example if you are taking the screen shots of webpage with high resolution graphics then you will observe that screenshot is not that clean. There is some dithering, which will spoil the output result. The simple solution for this type of problem is turn off the dithering before taking the screenshot.

You can take screenshots in the Windows operating system by pressing the Print Screen key (also known as PrtScn) of your keyboard. This will capture entire screen in to the image and load in to the default clipboard automatically. However, if you want to capture only the window that is active then use PrintScreen key along with ALT key.

Once you have captured your screen in to the clipboard, paste it in to any image editor program. Open an image editing program like Microsoft paint, Photoshop or any other and paste it by clicking CTRL + V or you can paste the clipboard image by selecting paste from the edit menu.

If you are running Apple Macintosh then you have more options. Clicking Command-Shift-3 will create a file of entire screen in PICT format. This file will be automatically saved on your root directory of main drive. However, if you want certain part of the screen to be captured then click Command-Shift-4. This changes the cursor in to a X sign. Now click this X in to the one end of area and drag it. Again the selected area will be saved as PICT file. If you want circle instead of X for your click and drag, then press Command-Shift-3 while CAPS lock on. If you want to copy the screenshots in to the clipboard instead of saving in to hard drive, then you can do it by pressing the above keys along with the CTRL key.

Once, you have done the necessary changes in to the screenshots from your image editing program save the final image as JPG.
